Our partner in Vigo proudly participated in CinVigo 2026, presenting the innovative MemCat project through an interactive stand and public activity during the event.
CinVigo is an annual science festival that brings the world of scientific research closer to the general public, transforming the city of Vigo into a vibrant hub of discovery during the last weekend of April. The initiative aims to create an ecosystem where students, schools, researchers, and citizens can enjoy educational and leisure experiences connected to scientific knowledge.
The fourth edition of CinVigo took place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April 2026 in the city of Vigo, in a fully in-person format. The festival was open both to students participating in the scientific fair and to the wider public. The event was organized by CINBIO, with the collaboration of the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología and the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.
This year’s edition highlighted the growing strength of scientific vocations across Galicia. For the first time, participants from all four Galician provinces joined together at CinVigo, showcasing the remarkable potential of young researchers and innovators.
The Port of Vigo became much more than a center for commerce and industry — it turned into a meeting point for the best young scientific talent in Galicia. The numbers behind the event clearly reflected its success:
- 250 secondary school students actively participating
- 68 innovative scientific projects presented
- 34 educational centers involved, including 16 public schools
- 53 teachers guiding and supporting the participants
From the docks to the laboratories, the enthusiasm for science and discovery demonstrated that Galicia continues to grow as a powerful region for scientific education and innovation.
Through its participation at CinVigo 2026, the MemCat project contributed to inspiring young minds, promoting scientific awareness, and fostering dialogue between research and society. The interactive stand and activities allowed visitors to learn more about the project’s objectives and its contribution to advancing knowledge and innovation in the field.
