MemCat project at G-Night 2026!

On Friday, 25 September, Memcat project participated in G-Night (European Researchers’ Night) (https://gnight.gal/ ) for the second consecutive year, with Balkaran Singh Sran and his colleagues at Berbés Square , Vigo.
Under the theme “Chemistry in Action: Science for All Audiences,” our stand brought chemistry to life through colourful, visual and interactive experiments for visitors of all ages.
It was also a great opportunity to share the research being carried out within the MemCat project and to talk about CO₂, its environmental impact, and the need for technologies that can efficiently separate and manage gases.
Through a simple and fun balloon experiment, even children as young as three could see CO₂ being generated right in front of them. This provided a playful starting point to connect everyday chemistry with the bigger challenge addressed by our research like developing advanced membrane materials for more efficient and sustainable gas-separation processes.

A wonderful combination of science, awareness, learning and fun and a great reminder that even complex research can be communicated through simple experiences.

A big thank you to everyone for making the experience so enjoyable, and special thanks to the G-Night organizers and CINBIO, Universidade de Vigo for creating such a wonderful opportunity to bring research closer to society
